What Material is AirTek?
Hero’s Pride® AirTek® material was developed by our engineers to feel and look just like leather, while overcoming some of leather’s limitations.
It is scratch resistant, requires no costly upkeep, and weighs up to 30% less than competitive duty gear.

WHAT MATERIAL IS USED IN THE AIRTEK DUTY GEAR?
The material used in AirTek is a proprietary material called 33E HP. The number 33 refers to the versions that were developed and discarded by Hero’s Pride, before finding the perfect solution.
It consists of layers of material that provide the look and feel of leather with a lot of added benefits that leather, unfortunately, does not have.
looks like leather, performs like magic
Leather looks great, at first, but wears and scratches very easily, must be conditioned regularly, and is heavy. We wanted to develop a new material that would provide the aesthetics and feel of leather, without the downsides of that material.
33E HP The material is a faux leather that appears much more similar to leather than other “synthetic leather” solutions on the market. It is essentially impervious to scratches and tears, does not need to be conditioned and can be cleaned with a damp cloth, and weighs up to 30% less than other solutions available. This material also maintains its high-gloss finish, and is UV fade resistant.

ASTM International (an international standards organization that develops and publishes standards for variety of materials) has independently tested this material, and has classified it as resistant to bloodborne pathogens, including Hep B, Hep C, and HIV.
AirTek products and the 33E HP material have also successfully passed tearing strength, abrasion resistance, and tensile strength tests.
